Luke 12:25-26
With today’s verses, I picked up where we stopped yesterday. I love how practical Jesus is! Can worry or anxiety add a single moment to our lives? UH, NOPE! If anything, it subtracts moments!! Think of all the time and energy you spent focused on sometimes you could not control. I know I have wasted time worrying with anxious thoughts over stuff. That’s the truth! Don’t do what I did though- tell someone so they can pray with you to break the cycle. (And do what I’m going to tell you in the next paragraph.)
Worry & anxiety don’t add ANYTHING to our lives. When we focus on something going on, that we can’t control, it’s like sitting in a rocking chair & rocking back and forth. You are moving but not going anywhere. It's not healthy or productive. My solution is to turn those worries & anxiety into prayer. Everytime a thought pops up, stop it, and pray instead.
Let me give you an example…. my bonus son recently flew to India on a business trip. That was a whole day or travel with a 16 hour flight. Everytime I thought about him in a plane that long, my mind would race. “What if he gets sick in a plane that long?” “What if something happens while they are over the ocean?” I stopped those thoughts & prayed for his immune system and protection for him to stay well. I prayed for God to literally hold that plane in HIS hand and carry it to it's destination. This is something you can pray as many times as the anxious thoughts pop up!
Turning worry & anxious thoughts into prayer does 2 things. It draws you closer to God and it pushes back the enemy and your own mind. Once the anxious thoughts are captured and turned to prayer, they will eventually stop. I challenge you to try it!
