Lamentations 3:55-57

The prophet Jeremiah wrote the Book of Lamentations. Sometimes hevhas been nicknamed “the weeping prophet”. He was the one to communicate to God, then give the message to Israel. Chapter 3 is titled, “Hope in the LORD’S Faithfulness”. Israel went through A LOT in the Old Testament. God loved them so much and He tried to help them many many times. If we remember back, God helped whenever they cried out to Him as Jeremiah is here.

Sometimes you have to look back to see what God has done. Don’t we? Two of my close friends just reviewed some of their old journals. It is helpful to see what God said or how He answered a prayer. That’s exactly what I think Jeremiah was doing here.

At some point, Jeremiah felt like he was deep within a pit. That pit was more than likely emotional as I have never read about him literally being put in a pit. (Like Joseph or Daniel) God’s prophets were sacred and most people left them alone due to that fact. They were super close to the Lord.

In my opinion, the different pits we can get in emotionally are anxiety, worry, fear, and depression. Which honestly, I think depression is when anxiety has hung around for too long. We have ALL experienced this at one time or another in our lives. Just like God answered Jeremiah, He will answer us too! If you find yourself in a pit, PLEASE tell a friend. And by all means, cry out to the LORD. He WILL help. I promise.
