Job 8:20-21

Just in case someone doesn't know Job’s story, let me give a brief run down. Chapter 1 says Job was a man who lived in Uz. He was blameless & full of complete integrity. He feared the LORD and stayed away from evil. He had 7 sons and 3 daughters, along with a ton of livestock. He was the richest man in his area.

Satan asked God if he could test Job. He believed that Job was only living for the LORD because of all that he had. God gave him permission to do anything but he was not allowed to kill Job. At first he wasn’t allowed to harm him physically. (Job 1:12) All of Job’s children died and all of his livestock was taken or killed. Once again, Satan goes to God. Job 2:6 God allows Job’s health to be attacked but he is still not to be killed. (That’s just proof that Satan can make us sick.)

In Chapter 2, starting at verse 11, Job’s 3 friends come over. They are Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zopher. They sat with him for 7 days and nights without saying a word. Then Job spoke. That opened the flood gate! Eliphaz was first. Chapters 6 and 7 is Job’s response to him.

Then, Chapter 8 is his friend Bildad. These friends had not been very nice in some of their comments, but our verses are great! Bildad is basically prophecying that God would not reject Job, that once again he WILL laugh and be full of joy! When those type words are said in the right timing and context, it’s amazing!

God is good and no matter how bad things get, we will have laughter and joy again!
