James 4:4-5

One thing I haven’t done is define friendship. I know we all know what it is, but let’s see the definitions of it.

Friendship: 1. The state of being a friend; association as friends

2. A friendly relation or intimacy

3. Friendly feeling or disposition

Now who or what is James calling “the world”? The world is anything & anyone living outside of God’s ways. We could also look at it as the way we lived BEFORE we gave our hearts & lives to Jesus. The world says, “Do whatever makes YOU feel good.” “Live for you.” It’s self centered and not really focused on anything but pleasing our freshly desires.

When someone is living that way, they are not friends with God, but they are friends of the world. The Bible does call His children friends of God in several places. We should be intimate with GOD and allow Him into every area of our lives.
