Isaiah 49:8-9

Today's verses are Isaiah speaking to Israel on behalf of the LORD. They had been in Babylon as captives. They were now being restored. Chapter 49 is titled, “The LORD’S Servant Commissioned” in my Bible. Verses 5-7 are a prophecy about Jesus. (That's another thing I love about the Bible. It references both Testaments in both Testaments.)

Starting at verse 8, my Bible has the title, “Promises of Israel’s Restoration “. We often say God is an “on time” God. Don’t we? He is telling us that in verse 8. While verse 9 is speaking of telling prisoners to “Come out in freedom” is referencing the actual prisoners who were captivated by the Babylonians, I believe that those who don’t know Jesus as their Savior can come out in freedom & come into the light of HIM daily!

God wants us to live in freedom from sin and legalism. Both are extremes that don’t help us stay close to Him.
