Isaiah 38:16-17

Our verses today are in regard to Hezekiah who was King over Judah at this time. Assyria had invaded Judah in his 14th year as King. Hezekiah did seek the LORD for help. Isaiah predicted Judah’s deliverance from it all…. then Hezekiah got deathly ill.

God sent Isaiah to him and told him to get his affairs in order, he was going to die. (Isaiah 38:1) Hezekiah then prayed. Because of that prayer, God sent Isaiah back to him. First of all, God told Hezekiah, “I have heard your prayer AND seen your tears.” (Isaiah 38: 5) Then, God gave him 15 more years to live.

Starting in verse 9, Hezekiah wrote a poem of praise and our verses are in there. We live in a fallen sinful world with chemicals, an enemy, and lots of bad things that can harm our health. BUT we love and serve a God who hears our prayers and sees our tears. And who can't give us something He doesn't have. (Like cancer.) To top that off, He sent His only Son to take our diseases and dis-eases on the cross for us! What a God, what a God!
