Genesis 21:5-6
In Chapter 18 of Genesis, 3 men stopped by Abraham and Sarah’s. These 3 men represented God, Jesus and Holy Spirit. They told Abraham when they came back next year, they would have a son.
Sarah laughed SILENTLY to herself. She even had a negative thought about herself, when they were told she’d have a son. (Genesis 18:12) God called her out for laughing. That laugh was from unbelief. Thinking she's too old, and not trusting the Word of the men who gave the message.
That message WAS from God. So, of course, God kept His Word and Isaac was born. We don’t live as long as they did in the Old Testament but we know 100 years is pretty old to become a dad. (And 90 for a mom.) Nowadays women who are 35 or older getting pregnant are labeled as “risk” pregnancies because of their age. We have tons of modern things too that Sarah did not.
We attribute laughter with happiness, but that’s not always the case. Happiness is based on circumstances but JOY is from the LORD. I think Sarah means all of it in verse 6.
In their culture, if women couldb’t have children, they were looked down upon. This son was a miracle for them and she was excited to laugh and enjoy him. Abraham lived 75 more years after Isaac and he fathered more children too. Sarah passed at the age of 127. She had 37 years with Isaac. I bet she lived every second and laughed often. What do you think?
