Genesis 19:1-2

This Chapter in Genesis can be hard to read. In Chapter 18, verses 16-33 Abraham was talking to God about not destroying the town of Sodom. Lot, who we see in our verses, was his nephew and since Abraham still didn’t have children, Lot was his heir. He didn’t want Lot to die.

I don’t think Lot realized the men coming into Sodom we're angels at first glance. They obviously looked like men. He mentions washing their feet and verse 3 says he prepared a feast for them and they ate. It’s not on our list, but Hebrews 13:2 says, “Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it.” The writer of Hebrews might even have been thinking about this event with Lot.

Angels were created by God for specific purposes. There are many types of angels. They do have free will, because we know that Lucifer tried to over take God… but I don't think they always look like humans. God sends them in human form when He needs to. We will write a couple more verses about these 2 angels tomorrow.
