Galatians 6:1-2

I need to point out something major about these verses… what Paul is saying here is not like what Job’s friends did. Job’s friends saw bad things happening TO Job and not something Job himself was doing. Therefore, they assumed he had sinned.

Paul is talking about a friend who you KNOW is sinning. Maybe it’s an affair of some sort, severely over eating, using pornography, wasting their money on shopping & not paying bills, abusing someone they love, etc. The list could go on awhile, so I think you get my point. If you KNOW about something, basically by seeing it yourself OR someone not gossiping but genuinely reaching out for help, we need to take action.

That action should be gentle and humble. If you never hear anything else I write, please hear this- YOU CAN NOT BE THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR SOMEONE! Period. But we can have a “come to Jesus” meeting with a loved one and say, “Hey man, I’m seeing some behavior and sin in your life that doesn’t line up with who you are.”

This is a loving way to help someone you love that's headed the wrong way. By sharing each other’s burdens, we are doing life together and that’s what God wants us to do. This is why having Godly friends is important. We are there during the good & bad times. And we can help redirect anyone who gets off the path.
