Deuteronomy 31:6-7

Deuteronomy chapter 31 is all about Joshua becoming the leader of Israel in Moses’ place. After 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, they finally go to the part of the land God had planned for them long before they went to Egypt.

Moses was not allowed in the Promised Land. He got to see it, but that’s all. Joshua was filling some very large shoes in this role. God was trying very hard to hard to help Joshua not worry about his new role and everything that came with it. In our verses, and in our next 2 days of writing, God tells him a total of 5 times to be strong and courageous.

Trying to be strong and courageous in our own strength does not work. We are weak and have no power in and of ourselves. But with God and His Holy Spirit, we CAN be strong and courageous. Just like God told Joshua, He personally goes ahead of us. He will neither fail us NOR abandon us.

Let’s let God help us be strong in all aspects of our lives. Our own power is nothing compared to His!
