1st Samuel 17:50-51
At this point, we are shifting our focus on to David. The life of David was definitely one of resilience!
When God picked him, through Samuel, he was the youngest of all the sons of Jesse. So much so that Jesse didn’t even consider him, he left him in the field. In our verses today, David was already anointed as King but Saul doesn’t know. (Like yesterday.) David had been at home but his dad asked him to take his brothers some food on the battlefield. That’s when he heard Goliath’s taunts.
Saul tried to give David his armor, but of course it doesn’t fit. David went and got some rocks and did what he normally does to protect his sheep. David’s confidence came from God. He knew that it wouldn’t happen by his own power but whatever happened, God would make it happen. David said, “This is the LORD’S battle, and He will give it to us.” (1st Samuel 17:47)
How amazing to go from being a lowly shepherd boy to killing a 9 foot tall giant! David knew that with God, anything is possible!
