1st Samuel 16:1

God told Samuel he had “mourned” Saul long enough. But Saul wasn’t deceased yet. I think Samuel was grieved by Saul’s behavior and disobedience to God.

Saul did not follow God’s orders for a few years then got greedy and prideful. (This means Saul wasn’t listening to Samuel either.)He was king for 42 years, but the last 15 of that was after God had Samuel anoint a new king.

Samuel had a hard job. But what a blessing to be so close to God! All of the Israelites knew who he was and how close to God he was. (Even the servant with Saul in yesterday's verses.) I’m sure Samuel had a bunch of emotions going on. Tomorrow, we will talk about this new king some.
