1st Peter 1:3-4

I would like to start off today by remembering who is writing this letter. Peter, used to be Simon, was a fisherman. That means he was not picked by. Rabbi when he was younger. His brother Andrew had met John the Baptist and listened to him. Andrew believed that Jesus was the Messiah. Peter was somewhat hot headed and impulsive. When he met Jesus for himself, he believed. (Luke 5:1-11)

After Jesus rose from the grave and went back to Heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Peter was the one teaching to the crowd where thousands got saved. Peter was just a regular guy. But he did many miracles and led thousands to Jesus.

Peter understood mercy because he lived it. He had been a lowly fisherman. In their society, they were not looked upon highly. Peter called himself a sinner too. God’s mercy is for everyone! No one deserves it, no one can earn it. And He gives it freely! All you have to do is receive!
