1st Chronicles 16:7-9

At this moment in history, King David had just fully become King. Saul died in Philisti and David took back Jerusalem that had been captured by the Jebusites. David made the fortress his home, which is why they called it the City of David.

During Saul’s reign, the Ark of the Covebany had been captured by the Philistines about 20 years before. Once David took Jerusalem as his town to reign from, he wanted the Ark there. His first attempt was stopped at Gath. His second attempt worked and we received this beautiful song of praise written by David. Verses 8-36 are a song of thanksgiving to God for all that He had done.

I love modern worship songs thanking God for things He has done, but these Biblical ones are so raw and happened at such amazing times in Scripture. Don’t you agree?
