1 John 1:5-7
What does the phrase, “Living in the Light” mean to you? I think it means living God’s ways, like I’ve said so many times. The darkness is spiritual darkness. It’s being OUT of fellowship with Jesus. It's living life YOUR way & completely disregarding God’s ways.
I’d like to break down verse 6 some. My interpretation of it is this: “You can't live for God if you are living for the world.” However, when someone first gives their hearts to Jesus, you will still do some of what you did. We don’t have to come to God perfect. We CAN’T, because we won’t be perfect until we get to Heaven. But, we CAN choose God and do our best to let Him change us. If we continue fully living outside of God’s ways and we aren’t growing or changing, that's not a fully surrendered life in my opinion.
When we live in the light, with God, then we have fellowship with each other and Jesus. We are made for community. Living for God, doing life His ways, can provide the community we long for, and that God wants us to have. We aren’t meant to do life alone. Period. Even if you are single or widowed, you need people with like minds, living for God too, that get involved at church. Join a small group. That’s the best way to meet people.
