Romans 5:1-2
The title in my Bible of Romans 5 says “Faith Brings Joy”. Just so we are on the same page, let’s define faith. Faith is ,”1. Confidence or trust in a person or thing, 2. Belief that is not based on proof, 3. Belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion.” The writer of Hebrews defined it in Hebrews 11:1 as, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” NLT
How can believing in something you can’t see bring you joy? There is too much evidence to believe otherwise. The Bible was literally written by eye witnesses or someone who spoke to an eye witness. The fact that people died for what they believed & taught well after Jesus went to Heaven, and the radical way Jesus came and fulfilled the law…. it HAS to be true. We can rejoice in the truth of it all!
In my Bible I underlined undeserved privilege and I circled confidently in verse 2. (I read and write from the NLT if your translation sounds different.) Our relationship with God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit gives us an undeserved privilege also known as favor in our lives. We are confident and joyful in the fact that when we die, we will go to Heaven, as well as, while we are here, we have JOY because of all of it. We have God with us all the time. We can fight the enemy, heal from our past, and let Him love on us. That certainly brings me joy.
