Luke 6:20-21
Luke’s account of everything about Jesus was from talking to the original disciples and other eye witnesses who followed Jesus. (Even the women who followed Him.) It’s not in order, from what I can tell. But that's ok. Starting at verse 20, my Bible has it titled, “The Beatitudes”.
Beatitude is defined as, “supreme blessedness; exalted happiness; any of the declarations of blessedness pronounced by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount”. Jesus tried very hard to help people break free of the mindset they had. If they were poor, they thought God didn’t love them. NOT TRUE! God wants to give to the poor- sometimes through other Christians. God blesses those who are poor and hungry.
He also blesses those who weep because in time, they will laugh. Weeping, sadness, or depression isn’t something we have to allow to lead our lives. Joy is in us and God wants to help us live joyful lives!
