(Just a reminder that yesterday's verses and today's are GOD talking to Joshua.)
The Bible has so many interesting qualities and purposes. Yesterday I mentioned it being Israel’s history but today we see God Himself call it “Book of Instruction”. We can clearly learn Biblical principles on how to live fr everything written in the Bible. People’s lives and decisions become good examples for us. The 10 Commandments and the many ways Jesus taught how to live help us have a good life if we apply it.
I call verse 8 one of God’s IF/THEN promises. He is a man of His Word and He keeps His promises! If you want to prosper and succeed, then study the Bible every day. (And write it with us.) Meditate on how to live then apply that to your life.
In verse 9, God commands Joshua and us to be strong and courageous. Command is defined as “to direct specific authority or prerogative; order.” God has authority over us and this is something we can be helped by. God did not give us a spirit of fear, He wants us to be strong and courages IN HIM! (2nd Timothy 1:7) He promises to be with us wherever we go! What an awesome God He is!
My husband has taken Joshua 1:9 as his life verse. He uses it to encourage himself and others to be strong and courageous through all aspects of life. He believes that God really is with him too, wherever he goes, just like God promises. This practice is a good thing. Taking God’s Word and standing on it with all your heart, soul, and mind can change you so much. Do you have a life verse? If so, what is it?
