James 1:22-25

Don’t you just love the Book of James? I think he is so practical. And the fact that he is Jesus's half brother says a lot about him. Verse 21, just before our writing, says to get rid of all filth & evil in our lives & accept the Word God has planted in our hearts, because it has the power to save us!

Now, let’s talk about the law & doing what the Word says. A lot of atheists like to argue with Christians about Bible verses. They pick and choose from the Old Testament and question them in modern times. The 10 Commandments SHOULD be upheld now. They are good and moral things we can all live by. There are some OT verses that Jesus either one up’d them or they are no longer relevant under the new covenant. So we must learn and apply what God shows us in both portions of the Bible.

In my opinion, Jesus's teachings and the other New Testament Books are what we need to definitely live by. The Old Testament needs to be read and used wisely. All of God's Word is important for us. And we need to do what it says, not just read only!

One thing in particular that stands out to me is Jesus telling us to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. I live by that statement. Even at work.
