Galatians 5:13-15
One thing about Paul is he dealt with negative people in the church & outside the church. People were lying about him and said he was the one teaching every male HAD to be circumcised to be a Christian. Also, people were offended simply because of the message of the cross. I think Paul dealt with way more than we can imagine. All he was trying to do is help people find this freedom he was teaching.
The big sentence that stands out to me is “but don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature”. Freedom in Christ doesn’t mean we can sin without consequence. Therefore, we shouldn’t think we can just live however we want to and get away with it. OR think, “I will still go to Heaven, so let me live it up.” That is NOT how God wants us to think or live.
Using our freedom to serve one another in love sounds good. We are commanded to love our neighbor as ourselves. Even if we struggle with love self esteem, we love ourselves enough to feed, clothe, and bathe ourselves. Everyone needs Jesus and His unconditional love! Serving others in love and because we are free in Christ will satisfy us better than any sinful nature thing will.
