Ephesians 5:17-20
Ephesians is such an interesting book. We have been reading and discussing it in one of our small groups. Paul wrote this letter to the church in Ephesus that he helped start. The title in my Bible starting at verse 15 is, “Living By The Spirit’s Power.”
Jesus left the earth after His resurrection so the Holy Spirit could come & dwell in us. He told His disciples that a few times because they enjoyed being with Him and He was leaving.
Paul’s advice in our verses is some of the best advice EVER! I write and read out of the NLT version and my verse 17 says, “Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the LORD wants you to do.” We should allow the Holy Spirit and God’s Word to guide us.
In verse 18, it’s one of a few times Paul warns about getting drunk. Drinking alcohol is not a sin. Allowing yourself to be out of control because if it is not how God wants us to live.
When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we will worship and thank God regularly for all He has done and continues to do!
