Colossians 3:5-7

How does someone “put to death” the things listed in verse 5? My NLT lists them thus way, sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires & greed. In my opinion these things are put to death by living God’s ways and following Jesus’ example. Jesus said if you looked at someone lustfully, you’ve committed adultery in your heart. (Matthew 5:28) Also, Paul says that sexual sins are the worst kind in 1st Corinthians 6:18. Jesus told parables involving money and greed as well. Those things are a part of the world and very evident in society today.

Since our lives aren’t a part of this world anymore, we need to learn Jesus’ Godly ways of living and follow them. Treat others the way we want to be treated. Use our talents, skills, and abilities for God and shine His light wherever we go. People feel when you are different. Or when they watch you go through something terrible and see how you handle it.

We don’t turn to worldly things to help us. We turn to Godly things and people. That’s the difference.
