1st Samuel 1:19-20

Verses 9 through 18 of 1st Samuel chapter 1 are of Hannah’s prayer & plea to the LORD for a son. Eli & his two sons were the priests at the Tabernacle in Shiloh. Eli thought Hannah was drunk when he saw her praying. Once she explained, he told her that God would grant her request.

The Bible does not give a time frame from the time God made the promise to the time it came to pass. But, God kept His promise and blessed Hannah with a son. I’m not sure of the exact age that people weaned their babies in Biblical times, but once he was weaned, Hannah took him to the Tabernacle and gave him to the LORD. Hannah’s prayer of praise in chapter 2 verses 1 through 10 is SO good. She was a strong woman who also kept her promises. She could have kept Samuel. She waited so many years to have him. But she was true to her word and took him to become Eli’s assistant in the Temple.

Hannah’s prayer request for a child and then keeping her promise to the LORD literally changed the world. Samuel was the greatest prophet who obeyed God and completely helped Israel through some interesting times.
