1 Peter 3:19-21

Please read verse 18 and verse 22, because they finish off our writing today beautifully. Peter is talking about where Jesus went after He died. During my research I found that people believe Jesus went to Heaven because He told the thief on the cross that he would be with Him in paradise, of course. Peter seems to report another location. Scholars can’t be sure if the imprisoned spirits are the fallen angels or the people of the world who died in the flood. It seems to me as if it’s the humans because that’s how Peter wrote it.

I never thought about God redeeming the flood by helping us see baptism as a cleansing symbol. One thing I love about my church is they have clothes for anyone who decides to get baptized. Shorts, shirt, etc. So if someone felt led in service, they don’t have to wait unless they want to.

I’m pretty sure Jesus literally could have gone anywhere at any time, but it seems like He wanted to give those “spirits in prison” an opportunity to be saved. He is still doing that today too! It just shows us the Father’s heart. He doesn’t want anyone to die without Him.
